It's not that Christian rock bands like Third Day are turning their backs on Christian rock music, they're just trying to broaden the appeal of their music beyond just the folks who listen to Christian rock radio. To achieve this end, Third Day is headlining a musical festival that also features Christian rock bands like Switchfoot, Jars of Clay, and Robert Randolph and the Family Band. This 23-city tour will bring Christian rock lyrics and joyous sounds of Christian rock music to fans all over the country. In addition to the major Christian rock bands on the tour, the Music Builds tour will also include smaller side stages that feature new and underexposed groups. According to an article published by Reuters, " 'Hopefully the church and people who listen to Christian music are going to be big supporters of the tour,' says Third Day frontman Mac Powell. 'But I think because of the lineup, it's going to be a little bit more friendly to people outside of the church as well. It's not going to be a normal Christian music festival.' With the large lineup featured on this tour, Third Day may very well reach beyond the appeal of just Christian rock music fans.
